Hi and welcome, I’m Jacqueline E Alexander
How to support your child’s EARLY LANGUAGE LEARNING
Using WIZZY’S WORDS
Children starting school with an age-appropriate oral #vocabulary, i.e., spoken words, generally do well in school and in life.
As a parent and teacher, I’ve seen first-hand how research-based child development data together with instinctive teaching and parenting can guide language learning. We’re in this together. Although I have a research background in child development, education and psychology, it was my classroom observations that pushed me to research and develop a way to support parents and teachers as they support children’s early language development. This has been no mean feat. I am here to help you. Wizzy’s Words, a book of modern rhymes, is a resource to guide the development of children's oral language from the earliest opportunity. Join me now on what has been a somewhat long and winding journey and ‘Let’s put words in our children’s mouths’.
I will continue to use this blog to provide you with further information about Wizzy’s Words, the part it plays in Birth to 5 Matters and beyond and ultimately in your children’s life-long learning. If there are any particular topics that you would like covered within the blog, please use the contact button to let me know.
If you click on the interview tab you will see that I have developed this as a Questions and Answers section for you. I have already been asked various individual questions from parents, grandparents, carers and educators with respect to the content and use of Wizzy’s Words. I will continue to add to the Questions and Answers section as the need arises. Please feel free to use the contact button to ask about features of Wizzy’s Words that you need support with and/or how to make it work for your child/children.
